Historical context
'Roger B. Corbett was the Agricultural Advisor for the National Association of Food Chains when he accepted the Presidency of New Mexico A&M College. His B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees were earned at Cornell University. Previous academic positions included Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Connecticut and Director of the University of Maryland’s Agricultural Experiment Station. During his tenure (1955-1970), New Mexico A&M formally became New Mexico State University, both physical and academic growth accelerated, the graduate school was organized, and the first doctoral programs were initiated.''
