Historical context
Initially, three wings of women's dormitory, the Rhodes-Garrett-Hamiel Hall, in mid-1960s was converted into co-ed dorm with the men housed in Hamile Hall and the women in Rhodes and Garret halls. The first wing of the dormitory, Rhodes Hall, was completed in 1941, the second unit, the Garrett Hall, in 1942, and the third wing, Hamiel Hall in 1955. The buildings were named after Eugene Manlove Rhodes, Wlizabeth Garrett and Flora Hamiel respectively.
