On verso: "Young Hall, Breaking ground for the new library. Pres. Kent with team of horses and a plow. 1928" Harry L. Kent served as the college president from 1921 to 1936.
Historical context
Originally the university library, Young Hall was completed in 1928. The hall is named for Regent R. L. Young who was a prominent lawyer in Las Cruces, played a role in the establishment of Las Cruces College, and served on the Board of Regents from 1932 to 1933.
