DEPARTMENT OF HOUSEHOLD ECONOMICS PROFESSOR MILLER MISS THOMPSON, The purpose of this course is to interest young women in the life and well-being of the home by teaching subjects of particular value to the household. These subjects have their foundation in chemistry, physics, and biology and hence sciences find an important place in the course, along with other subjects affording general knowledge and culture. In the Preparatory Department the subjects are all taught with special attention to developing skill, accuracy, neatness and economy in the handling of materials and utensils. It is the purpose of the course to teach the best and most economical methods in housekeeping. Throughout the Preparatory and college Courses it is the aim to dignify the work of the home by the application of the arts and scientific knowledge to its management."
