Historical context
''The Engineers' Club was first formed in 1914 in order ''to create student interest in engineering matters and discuss engineering subjects, to make possible the securing of special speakers..., to arrange for possible inspection trips to point of interest such as Elephant Butte Dam, etc., to strengthen the engineering spirit, and to bring about closer co-operation among engineering students.'' Cited from Swastika, Volume 9, 1915, p.96, http://contentdm.nmsu.edu/cdm/compoundobject/collection/Yearbooks/id/3668/rec/9 The 1924 Swastika yearbook says that members of the Engineers' Club can be found in ''almost every branch of the Student Body activities and various other organizations on campus.''
