Historical context
Dean Goddard was hired as the first professor of engineering and to begin the engineering department in 1914 at what was then New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. He became the first dean of the Department of Engineering in 1920. Dean Goddard was considered a trailblazer in the realm of radio engineering and was known nationally for his experiments.
