Description and notes
On verso, ''Students receiving Swastika yearbook.'' The yearbook the students are recieving in the photo is Swastika, Volume 58, 1964.
Historical context
Although NMSU was founded in 1888, it wasn't until 1907 that the first yearbook, The Swastika, was published. The university continued to publish yearbooks until 1992. The Swastika underwent a name change in the early 1980s when it was changed to The Phoenix. Both yearbook names were chosen through a student contest.
