Historical context
The Hagerty Family Photograph Collection contains 16 mounted photographs, the bulk of which are portraits of collegiate sports teams affiliated with the New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in its early years. In addition, the collection contains scenic images of downtown Las Cruces, Dripping Springs, and the Organ Mountains. The collection spans roughly the years 1895-1910. Clarence T. Hagerty was a popular professor of mathematics and astronomy, and active faculty member of the college, between 1891 and 1925
