Note on verso: Burros Laden with Alfalfa, Santa Fe, New Mexico, The native Mexican population of New Mexico clings steadfastly to the burro as a beast of burden, in spite of introduction of wagons and automobile trucks. One of the unique sights to be seen in Santa Fe. New Mexico is a train of burros so heavily laden that it seems the poor little beasts could scarcely hold up, much less walk with their loads. At harvest time, they may be seen almost completely covered with alfalfa which they are taking to market. The driver must take care that the burro does not eat his load. The burro goes slowly but he gets there just the same
