Note on recto: Threshing Wheat with Goats, Santa Fe, New Mexico, White Boarder
Note on verso: Threshing Wheat with Goats, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Nothing is more primitive or takes one back as many centuries in Quaint Old Santa Fe, as this ancient method of threshing wheat. The wheat as brought in from the field is placed in a stack, and part of it scattered around with a pitchfork. Goats are then driven in a circle over it, urged on by dog and men. From time to time more grain is thrown on the ground, while the goats trample it down. When the threshing is done, the same pitchfork is used to stack the straw, and the winnowing is done in the old primitive way
